Journal Club session: Paul Bergl, MD

Description

Join us for our next Journal Club session where Paul Bergl, MD, Assistant Professor in Critical Care Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin, will be presenting on his article "Frequency of Diagnostic Errors and Related Risk Factors in the MICU --a Retrospective Cohort Study." 

Dr. Bergl graduated medical school from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and completed his residency and a chief resident year at the University of Chicago. He previously served as assistant professor in general internal medicine at MCW and has completed one-year fellowships in medical education and diagnostic medicine (the latter through the Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine). 

As a clinician-educator, Dr. Bergl’s scholarly interests include teaching and assessing diagnostic reasoning, identifying and understanding causes of diagnostic error in the intensive care unit, and promoting bedside rounding and teaching. Dr. Bergl was a SIDM Fellow in Diagnostic Excellence in 2017.

The SIDM Journal Club sessions focus on a recent publication of interest in the diagnostic error field and provides an opportunity for the participants to engage in research-related interactive discussions. The goal of the Journal Club is to generate novel discussions on scholarship and academic advancement, brainstorm ideas for new research methodologies and projects, and facilitate collaboration among new researchers in the field of diagnostic error.
